What is a credit score?

A credit score is a rating system using a compilation of data such as pay history and number of years in business. Creditors use this type of rating, or score to determine likelihood of payment on future debts.

Why do some companies have no score?

Credit score data is collected from trade creditors that choose to share their data. If there is no score for your company, or one that you are researching, it may be that there is currently no data being reported by any of the trades associated with that company.

What does 'Too New' mean?

Companies that are new generally do not have a credit score. Credit scores are based on a proven history of payment practices. If a company does not have at least one year of payment activity, there is little to no data with which to formulate a score.

How do I improve my score?

You can improve your credit score in two ways. One, always pay your vendors and carriers within terms. Slow payment is the #1 reason for poor credit scores. Your score is also based, in part, on your company's tenure. The longer you have been in business, paying vendors and carriers in a timely fashion, the better your credit score will be.
